Kelford Youth Services is licensed by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to approve, support and supervise foster families. Placements of male and female children placed within these homes are typically referred by the local Children's Aid Societies.

Kelford Youth Services provides:
A comprehensive Home Study process (S.A.F.E. certified);
A Foster Care Coordinator to support and supervise the foster families;
24 hour/7 day per week on-call support and emergency assistance;
Reimbursement for time and expenses;
An orientation program;
Monthly foster parent meetings;
On-going training;
A Youth Worker assigned to work with each child placed within our foster homes; and
Extensive written Policies and Procedures
In 1999, Kelford Youth Services developed a program to work with young people who were preparing to live on their own.  Called S.K.I.L.L.S. - "Seeking Knowledge of Independent Living and Life Skills" - the intention is to work each youth through a comprehensive list of skills and lessons they must learn to help them be successfully independent. Categories include: Finances, The Law, Landlord Tenant Responsibilities, Food and Nutrition, Health, Local Resources, Job Preparation, Career Development etc.
Each youth over the age of 14 placed within a Kelford Youth Services foster home may access the SKILLS program.  The front line staff are all available to work through the program individually with each youth.  Additionally, foster children are invited to attend monthly SKILLS meetings held at the Head Office.

Private Services:
Kelford Youth Services has been in operation within the County of Lanark for over 15 years.  The experience and skills our staff provides is available in a variety of private, fee-for-service formats.
Family Support: For those families stuggling to work through issues of parent/child conflict, the KYS staff team may be able to help. With adolescents over the age of 16, you may not be able to access support from the local Children's Aid Society. We can help you develop a plan to address the on-going issues your family is struggling with.  This plan may include family meetings, accessing services, making referrals to other local resources, etc.
SKILLS: The KYS team may be employed to provide the SKILLS program in a group or individual fomat.
